First Aid Training

Knowledge that can save a life

Ukrainian Training Centre “Defender” of the NGO “Kyiv Volunteer Fire Service” provides practical training in first aid for people experiencing medical emergencies.

The aim is to develop a clear sequence of actions for the first critical minutes, when medical professionals have not yet arrived and the right actions by bystanders can make a decisive difference.

What we teach

During the course, learners develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills in:

• assessing scene safety and the casualty's condition;
• calling emergency medical services and communicating information clearly;
• performing an initial casualty assessment;
• cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
• using an automated external defibrillator (AED);
• controlling life-threatening bleeding;
• assisting with injuries, burns and other emergencies;
• maintaining a clear airway;
• placing a casualty in the recovery position;
• taking appropriate action until emergency medical services arrive.

Particular attention is given to hands-on skills practice and realistic scenarios.

Practice is the foundation of learning

First aid cannot be learned from presentations alone.

Learners practise on training equipment and mannequins, work through scenarios and learn to make decisions in conditions resembling real emergencies.

Our goal is that learners not only know the steps, but are ready to apply them in practice.

Who the training is for

Training can be provided for employees, safety officers, volunteer firefighters, rescuers, security staff, drivers, teachers, volunteers, community representatives and anyone who wants to respond appropriately in an emergency.

We offer individual and corporate training for organised groups.

Training everyone should consider

Emergencies happen without warning. Basic first aid skills are therefore useful to everyone, not just medical professionals and rescuers.

Recognise danger. Stay calm. Call for help. Act appropriately until medical professionals arrive.
